# Bat grip and chainsaw bar correction

2026-09-07. Built-in imagegen edit mode. Only weapon IDs 5 and 9 were changed.

Final PNGs installed in `../5.png` and `../9.png`. This folder keeps `5-clean.png` and `9.png` as the corresponding source copies. Previous active PNGs remain in `../compact-melee-v2/`.

- Bat: shorter wrapped grip and smaller pommel cap; striking barrel kept dominant. HUD diagonal span 0.76 preserves the barrel's previous visible thickness.
- Chainsaw: longer cutting bar and chain; engine/body design retained. HUD diagonal span 0.98 fits the longer silhouette without clipping. The longer complete silhouette requires a small uniform scale reduction to fit the existing slot; the bar is proportionally and visibly longer.

## Transparency

User-authorized programmatic background removal used `tmp/prepare-hud-cutout.ps1`, 16px empty border, chainsaw handle seeds (200,560) and (720,290). The bat initially retained six disconnected checkerboard noise pixels far below the object; `tmp/clean-bat-background-v3.ps1` clears that small background-only region to produce `5-clean.png`. The intermediate `5.png` here is not the installed asset. Actual weapon reshaping used imagegen, not code.

```text
Use case: precise-object-edit. Input image is the exact current baseball bat HUD icon. Correct its oversized HANDLE, not the striking barrel. Shorten the complete gray wrapped grip at the LEFT by 40%, from about 340px to about 200px on this same canvas. Redraw only three tidy wrap divisions instead of six. Keep a narrow natural grip. Make the flared left pommel knob about 25% smaller in height so it is a discreet cap, not nearly as wide as the hitting end. Preserve the full silver tapered striking barrel on the RIGHT exactly in length, width and rounded shape; do not shorten that part and do not enlarge the whole object. The short grip and small cap together should occupy roughly one quarter of the complete bat, leaving the barrel clearly dominant. Same smooth flat light silver-white and gray illustrated game HUD style, gray outline and simple shading. Exact horizontal side view, grip LEFT, tip RIGHT. Keep a complete centered bat on the same wide 2:1 canvas, with extra empty space from shortening. No global resize, no stretch, no crop. True transparent PNG alpha background, no checkerboard, text, logo, hands, glow or outside shadow.
```text
Use case: precise-object-edit. Input image is the exact current chainsaw HUD icon to edit. Its cutting bar is too short. LENGTHEN ONLY the metal cutting bar and chain projecting to the RIGHT of the engine by about 45%, from about 500px to about 720px on the same canvas. Keep the bar height/thickness unchanged, with the same rounded tip and neatly spaced chain teeth extending around the entire elongated perimeter. The right cutting bar should look like a proper long chainsaw blade, roughly comparable to the width of the engine-plus-rear-handle, not a short stub. Preserve the engine housing, rear grip, front loop handle and hand guard exactly in size, shape, details and position relative to each other. No global shrink or enlarge, no thicker motor, no new parts. Keep smooth flat light silver-white and neutral-gray illustrated game HUD style, outline and simple shading. Exact horizontal side view, motor/handle LEFT, working tip RIGHT. Whole complete chainsaw centered on a wide 2:1 canvas with comfortable transparent margins; no crop. True transparent PNG alpha background including both handle openings. No checkerboard, text, logo, hands, glow, outside shadow or photorealism.

## Verification

`node tmp/test-hud-icon-sizing.cjs` passed all 23 icons at 1366x768, 1920x1080, 390x844 and 320x568, plus cache, rapid switching, uploads and fallback. HUD screenshots visually checked for both updated icons. No Pawn, AMX, gameplay, minimap or other icons changed.
